Adventure Cycling Association (Van-supported) Adventure Cycling offers a bicycle tour covering 670 miles of the Lewis and Clark route through Montana. The trip begins and ends in Missoula, running from July 9 to July 23.
Adventure Cycling Association (Self-contained) This bicycle tour is for cyclists willing to carry their own gear, sleep in tents, and share with the cooking. The 30-day ride, departing June 25, follows the last leg of the Lewis and Clark route from Great Falls, Montana, to the Pacific Ocean.
Historical Trails Cycling HTC leads a 2,800-mile bicycle tour along the route, from east to west, from June 14 to July 27, 2005. Cyclists can ride it all, or join one or more of five segments. Van supported.
Timberline Adventures This outfit is taking a break from last year’s 3,400-mile bicycle tour along the length of the Lewis and Clark Trail. In 2005 it’s offering an 11-day trek along the explorers’ route in Montana. The 770-mile round-trip van-supported ride out of Missoula runs from July 31 to Aug. 11.
Western Spirit Cycling Adventures These five-day rides are for mountain bikes only. Western Spirit leads its cyclists on trails in the Lolo Pass area of the Bitterroot Mountains, where Lewis and Clark concluded there could be no waterway linking the Pacific Coast with the Missouri River. The trips leave Missoula every week from July 18 to Aug. 22.
