RAAM champion Jure Robic dies in crash

Jure Robic, the 45-year-old Slovenian who could ride his bicycle across the US faster than anyone, died near his home on Friday while riding his bicycle.

The ultracyclist reportedly was riding down a narrow mountain road when he collided with a car heading the other direction on a curve. He died at the scene.

Phinney jumps ship; signs 3-year contract at BMC Racing

Fresh from winning the individual time trial at the USA Cycling Pro Championships this weekend, Taylor Phinney says he's joining the BMC Racing Team next season.

Future looks bright for US cycling after youngsters win championships

Going to RadioShack next year

Trek-Livestrong's Ben King, 21, blasted off on a 50-mile solo flyer on Sunday to win the road race of the USA Cycling Pro Championships in Greenville, S.C.

Coupled with Saturday's ever-so close time trial victory by Trek Livestrong's Taylor Phinney, 20, and you'd have to agree that the future of US cycling is in very good hands.

The championships might have served as a passing of the guard from one generation to the next. Phinney beat Levi Leipheimer by a wink in the time trial on Saturday, and King out-rode the efforts of Leipheimer and defending champion Hincapie in their futile chase …

New U.S. time trial champion by less than the blink of an eye

Going to BMC in 2011

Seconds matter in time trial cycling races. So do tenths of seconds and hundredths of seconds.

That was proven in Greenville, S.C., on Saturday when Taylor Phinney won the USA Cycling professional time trial championship by a scant 14 hundredths of a second over Levi Leipheimer.

Phinney is the phenomenal 20-year-old up-and-comer on the Trek-Livestrong Under-23 development team. The strapping 6-4 son of cyclists Davis Phinney and Olympic gold medalist Connie Carpenter-Phinney …
