My son pauses at Stehekin River

Rental bikes are available in Stehekin, termed the most remote town in the lower 48 states. No roads in, but there are a few roads in the town and roads lead into the backcountry. It sits at the head of Lake Chelan and is a 2-hour ferry ride from the town of Chelan.

Port Townsend bike trail

 Port Townsend harbor and skyline as seen from the Larry Scott Memorial bike trail. My riding partner said  he liked this 3-mile rail-to-trail the best on a round trip bike ride from Seattle.

Bike taxi carrying baseball fans to Safeco Field in Seattle

Why not earn some cold, hard cash to ferry fans to the baseball park? Several bike taxis carry fans to and from Safeco Field. There's no motor vehicle traffic along this avenue of vendors before the games, and it's all flat.

Cyclist at Gas Works Park in Seattle

Tanks and other equipment at the 90-some year old coal-to-gas plant in Seattle, now known as Gas Works Park. It's a popular meet-up for bike rides, as there's parking and it sits right on the Burke-Gilman Trail.
