McClinchy Mile bike ride to memorialize victims of Oso landslide on March 15

An annual early season bicycle ride in Snohomish County has been renamed the McClinchy Mile Oso Strong Ride as a memorial to people and communities affected by last year’s tragic Oso landslide.

The bike ride is Sunday, March 15, 2015, and comprises 34- or 56-mile options from Arlington to Darrington and back along the Stillaguamish River.

King County expands Taylor Mountain Forest; more trails planned

A mountain biking destination near the crossroads town of Hobart just got bigger with a property acquisition and plans to build more trails.

King County says it has acquired a 40-acre “inholding” at Taylor Mountain Forest, located just south of the intersection of Issaquah-Hobart Road and Route 18.

Bicycling means big bucks in Washington state; ranks 4th in outdoor recreation spending

A newly released economic study of outdoor recreation in Washington state finds that bicycling contributes $3.1 billion a year to the state’s economy.

That’s the fourth highest economic impact among the major outdoor pursuits listed in the study, following only Sightseeing and Nature (1), all types of Boating (2), and Hiking, Climbing, Camping (3).

New SR 520 Eastside bike path links Lake Washington Blvd. and Evergreen Point Rd
