The bicycling public has a chance to talk directly with the city staff in charge of updating Seattle’s Bicycle Master Plan at three public meetings this week.
The goal of the master plan, first approved in 2007, is to make bicycling a safe and integral part of getting around Seattle.

A bicyclist from Tanzania who is on a two-year-long solo world bike tour will be rolling into Issaquah (WA) next week.
Elvis Munis is on his way up from Portland, where he stopped as part of his quest to raise enough money to pay for college degrees in conservation studies for himself and 9 countrymen.

I’m very unhappy this morning to report the death of bicycle advocate, newspaperman and fellow bike blogger Roger Kramer of Belleville, Illinois.
The Belleville News-Democrat, where he worked for 20 years as a design editor and copy editor, reports that he died of natural causes at his home on Saturday. He was 51.

The American Red Cross is seeking cash donations to help people suffering from the ravages of Hurricane Sandy.
The nonprofit relief agency already has opened emergency shelters in seven states where it’s making space available for persons displaced by the storms and distributing food and other necessities.
