Bike to Work on Friday

The reasons to participate in Bike to Work Day on Friday are too numerous to mention. I'll take a stab at a few:

You'll be sticking it to those big oil companies…

Bicycles-only on lakeside drive in Seattle

It's OK to ride your bicycle out in the middle of the road when it's Bicycle Saturdays or Sundays on Lake Washington Boulevard in Seattle.

Spinning yarns on wheels; the Bicycle Film Festival

My idea of a bicycle movie has always been “Breaking Away”: town kid grows up and beats college kids at their own race — the Little Indy 500.

Or “American Flyers”: kid grows up and beats brother in bicycle race — after the big brother suffers a brain aneurysm.

Or “Pee-Wee's Big Adventure:” I actually have no idea what that was about.

In any case, you won't find these films at the Bicycle Film Festival in NYC …

Would you like to show your appreciation to someone who helped you on a bicycle tour?

Can you think of anyone who:
Took you in on a stormy night;
Let you camp in their back yard;
Gave you and your busted bike a lift into town;
Basically saved your butt on your last bicycle tour?

The Adventure Cycling Association is …

Bicycle is best invention in 200 years, says UK

BBC Radio took a poll recently on what was the best invention since 1800.
