Bike bloggers beam in from Interbike

The blogosphere is in full swing at the Interbike Expo trade show in Las Vegas. I can imagine the blearing-eyed bloggers crawling off the trade floor and back to their hotel rooms just long enough to file their reports and upload some images.

25,000 BMX bicycles recalled

World Wide Cycle Supply is recalling 25,000 Harley-Davidson 16-inch BMX bicycles that had been sold exclusively through retailer Toys “R” Us.

The Islandia, New York, company has received 15 reports of fork welds breaking on the bicycles. Six riders suffered cuts and bruises to their faces and hands and several lost teeth due to the problem, according to the US Consumer …

Target recalls half-million child bicycle helmets

Torelli recalls bicycle tires

Torelli Imports is recalling about 1,100 folding bicycle tires under the Torelli Verona and Lugano Open Tubular brands.
The voluntary tire recall in cooperation with the US Consumer Product Safety Commission is necessary because the tire can separate from the wheel and flat out; no injuries have been reported.

Cadillac is slapping its distinctive marque, left, on bicycles now.
The General Motors brand is appearing on a line of bicycles made by Kent International, a bicycle and bike accessory manufacturer based in Parsipanny, New Jersey.

American Classic recalls road and mountain bike wheels

American Classic Bicycle Components is recalling about 2,850 rear wheels for road and mountain bikes.
Although no accidents or injuries have yet been reported, the US Consumer Product Safety Commission reports that the hubs can fail to engage properly, creating no resistance when pedaling and causing the cyclist to lose balance.

Limited recall for Giant brands Sedona and Cypress

Giant Bicycle is recalling 76 Sedona and Cypress brand bicycles.

 According to a press release, the rear axle of the bikes is harder than required in specifications and could crack. No injuries have been reported.

The bicycles that are subject to recall were made in China and sold in dealerships after mid-May 2005 for about $300.
