The Interbike International Bicycle Expo begins its final day Friday, and bloggers are filing fast and furious. Here are some of the highlights I've seen in the blogosphere.
Bike shop owners should print out and post in their shops the blog entry from Alan Snel — Bike Stories on “Treat Your Customers Right.” Alan attended a seminar on bicycle retail trends and the speaker offered some tips …

Cervelo Cycles has announced the recall of about 650 R2.5 model carbon fiber bicycles and bicycle frames because the frames can loosen or separate.
Distributed by Cervelo Cycles of Toronto, Canada, the frames were made in Taiwan and include only frames made in 2005 and carrying serial numbers higher than R251700. …

No, this isn't a photo of the latest drivetrain system on display at the Interbike International Bike Show. It's simply a picture of some badly needed new components for my worn out LeMond Tourmalet.
A slipping chain and a near-ballbusting experience — in addition to a tell-tale grinding from the bottom bracket — convinced me it was time to make the replacements after my bike tour of the Olympic Peninsula last month. …

Tim Jackson's excellent blog at Masiguy received a well-deserved mention in a New York Times article on Wednesday about bloggers who write — sometimes critically — about their business.
Jackson is brand manager for Masi Bicycles. He not only writes about his company's products, but other issues in cycling, such as doping.
It made me wonder, what are Jackson and his brethren blogging about from the Interbike International Bike Expo in Las Vegas this week?

I think we were on a bicycle tour to Montreal when my friend Bruce had the idea of attaching sails to our bikes to make them go faster. Always the practical one, I chalked it up as another of his hare-brained schemes, like his vacuum-cleaner shoes.
All I can say now is Bruce was ahead of his time.
A retired attorney has developed a sail system that attaches to a trike and propels it along the highway. The rig is called the Pterosail …

It's obvious that the press has swooped into Bootleg Canyon like so many vultures to ride the bikes and test accessories set out in the desert by 130 exhibitors at the two-day Outdoor Demo for Interbike.
Among the bloggers with passes to the show, the most prolific by far has been Graham at Go Clipless. The guy did write-ups on at least 7 mountain bikes the first day, many of them 29ers. Among them the Intense Spider 29,Turner Sultan, Niner R.I.P. 9, and Cannondale Caffeine 29er and Rush Carbon, Diamondback Mission 3, and Monocog Flight 29 …

You'll be hearing a lot about new bikes and gear — and booth babes — as the Interbike International Bike Expo makes its annual five-day run in Las Vegas this week.
In fact, as you're reading this Monday morning, hordes of big-time bike buyers and journalists are heading out to Bootleg Canyon near Boulder City, Nevada, for two days of hands-on bike testing on trails and the open road. …

It's a smaller company that Burley Design workers returned to Monday morning after the Eugene, Oregon-based trailer and bike maker was purchased by a local businessman last week.
One of the first moves was to lay off all 104 employees Friday; 65 return to work Monday morning and the other positions were eliminated. …

The Eugene, Oregon, company that makes those distinctive kiddie trailers — as well as bicycles and other cycling equipment — is no longer a worker-owned cooperative.
Burley Design Cooperative is now Burley Design Inc., a privately held corporation. The change is a “last ditch attempt to save Burley,” according to a letter from the board of directors …

This is sad news. BikePortland reports that Michael Wilberding, the founder of Cycle-Pak, died on Saturday from injuries he suffered when he was struck by a car in Beaverton on Aug. 1.
Those of you who attended this year's Seattle Bike Expo in February might remember visiting Mike's exhibit, at right. He had designed a double-walled cardboard box that could be used for shipping bicycles. This was his first show, and he was proudly handing out business cards and talking about his invention. …
