Several bicycling organizations have formed in recent years that address the particular needs of returning service members, primarily from Operation Enduring Freedom and Operation Iraqi Freedom.
I wrote about one of those — Soldier Rides — in April 2012. It’s a branch of the Wounded Warrior Project that uses cycling and bonds of service to help overcome physical, mental or emotion wounds of war.
Another is Ride 2 Recovery, which presents multi-day “Challenge” rides and one-day “Honor” rides for veterans. More details about that organization can be found at the Road Bike Action story “Their Brave New World.”
Also, see The Warrior Ride, which already, has presented multi-day bike rides in Pennsylvania, South Carolina and Virginia. Another is coming up in September in North Carolina. See below.
These are events for 2012. For 2013 events, check the website.

This is a great list. I’ll add it via a comment on a round-up of similar groups and projects I wrote last year for Veterans’ Day: http://bikestylespokane.com/2011/11/11/semper-bike-a-blogspedition-in-honor-of-veterans-day/
How about giving credit to all orginization working with our injured we have completed three rides this year and we have two clinics and three more ride schedule for 2012. Were not big but we are strong . We are “Warriors helping Warriors”.
I would like to ride with other vets in my area. I live in Ramsey Indiana.
Hi,
I am planning a solo ride for next April to bring awareness to ptsd. The idea is to show that we aren’t alone because i know there are allot of folks out there that I’ll meet with the same issues and i want to show that. I’ve never done this before and wondered if i could get some ideas on how to get things off the ground. Any info would help. Thanks, John
