Spanish cyclist Francisco Mancebo is returning to pro cycling as leader of the new US-based team RealCyclist.com.
Mancebo, 34, was honored as the best young cyclist at the 2000 Tour de France as a member of AG2R. His climbing and ITT skills made him a contender for the overall classification contest, and he finished in top 5 at Le Tour in 2004 …

Five teams have signed on for the 2011 inaugural Quiznos Pro Challenge that rolls through Colorado Aug. 20 – 28.
Four of the teams are from the US, one is from Italy. A total of 16 ProTour and Pro Continental level teams are expected to compete in the race.

Robert Hess is looking for a few good men — 8 to be exact — who have had prostate cancer and have the strength and stamina to ride their bicycles across the US at a torrid pace.
Hess, founder of the Prostate Cancer Awareness Project, wants to draw attention to the disease that strikes one out of six men by putting a relay cycling team in the 2012 Race Across America.

My town of Bellevue, Washington, experienced a substantial increase in the number of bicyclists tallied in its second annual Pedestrian and Bicycle Count this fall.
Although I'd like to report that this points to a growing trend in bicycle commuting, it's probably due to the sunny, albeit cold, weather on Oct. 5, 2010, compared to the blustery, rainy weather on Sept. 29, 2009.
In other words, more people ride their bikes in good weather than bad weather.
Even so, I think it bears reminding the elected officials that bicyclists were counted 600 times at 13 counting stations in the evening …

Bike traveler Mark Beaumont, who at one time held the Guinness World Record for circumnavigating the globe by bicycle in the shortest time, has been honored as the country's Top Scot.
After that record-breaking self-supported bike tour in 2008, the 27-year-old become widely known throughout the British Isles this year on BBC for the “Cycling the Americas” website and documentary that chronicled his bike trip from Alaska to Tierra del Fuego.
The public voted on the “Top Scot” through The Scotsman newspaper; Glenfiddich Single Malt Whiskey sponsored the competition.

Is it art or the byproduct of a training ride on a stationary bicycle?
Joseph L. Griffiths would argue that it's definitely art.
The Australian artist created the pedal-powered drawing machine in Melbourne as part of his mission to examine the relationship between man and machine.
In this case, the bicycle is outfitted with pulleys, belts and wheels to enable the operator to create crayon drawings on a wall. If the person works up a sweat while creating, then it's all the better.
