At less than a mile long, the multi-use trail fills the missing link on the Lake Washington bike route and connects the Cedar River Trail to a network of bicycling trails and bike lanes in King County.
I discovered the trail was open as I poked around on my bicycle in Renton on Friday. Although crews are still working on landscaping and no signs have been installed …

Eight Americans, representing four pro cycling teams, will be in the peloton at the Giro d'Italia when it sets off Saturday with the opening team time trial in Turin.
With competition for attention from the Amgen Tour of California that runs May 15-22, many teams are holding back their US native cyclists for West Coast race.
Garmin-Cervelo is trying to have it both ways, with its strongest riders split between both races. Tyler Farrar, above, for instance will be competing for sprint wins at the Giro, while Christian Vande Velde and Dave Zabriskie are headed to California ….

A one-week summer job might not be everyone's idea of a lifetime experience, unless that job is working behind the scenes at the 2011 Tour de France.

Update: May 5, 2011 — If you haven't signed up yet for the Seattle to Portland (STP) Bicycle Classic, it's too late. Almost.
The Cascade Bicycle Club reported that the ride sold out as of March 22. That's the earliest ever that the 10,000 openings have disappeared.

One of a series of bicycle rides held across the country to support the Wounded Warriors Project rolled out from the South Lawn of the White House on Wednesday.
President Obama honored participants in the Soldier's Ride in his remarks, thanking them for their service to the United States.
Thirteen such awareness and fund-raising bicycle rides are scheduled this year. (See schedule below.) The bicycle rides are open to everyone, allowing the public the opportunity to ride alongside men and women who have been wounded in service to our country.
The Soldier's Ride was started in 2004 by Long Island bartender Chris Carney, who had never served in the military …
