Leaders all survive at Tour of California's mountain stage

The Amgen Tour of California's epic mountain stage resulted in only insignificant changes to the overall leaders on Stage 6 on Friday, but it delivered plenty of excitement along the way.

For the second day in a row, Peter Sagan won the final sprint at the end of the 135-mile bike race from Palmdale to Big Bear Lake.

HTC-Columbia's Michael Rogers finished in 3rd place in the sprint, which gave him a time bonus that put him two seconds ahead of Garmin-Transition's David Zabriskie. Rogers and Zabriskie started the day in a dead heat with Rogers holding the leader's yellow jersey thanks to higher finish results …

Weather dampens turn-out for Bike-to-Work day

With rain threatening and temperatures hovering in the low 40s, the 2010 Bike to Work Day in the Seattle area on Friday was a real test of road warrior commitment for bike commuters.

The tally at the Bellevue Commuter Station, one of 44 set up by the Cascade Bicycle Club throughout the Puget Sound region, was off compared to previous years. Early indications show numbers were down throughout the region.

Still, a steady stream of good-natured bicyclists making the commute over the Lake Washington bridges between Bellevue and Seattle stopped to pick up water bottles, energy bars and other hand-outs. For many, rain and cold mean nothing when bicycling to work.

Based on the rate of cyclists passing through early on…

Tour of California all tied up after Stage 5 in Bakersfield

The 2010 Amgen Tour of California couldn't be much tighter as Michael Rogers, left, and David Zabriskie are tied for the overall lead after Stage 5 on Thursday.

The best young cyclist at the Tour, Peter Sagan, won the sprint finish in Bakersfield among many of the overall leaders. Rogers and Zabriskie finished second and third, and Levi Leipheimer (4th overall) finished in 7th place on the stage. (Chris Horner was the RadioShack cyclist who came across in 4th place.)

The time bonus for Rogers' finish ahead of Zabriskie resulted in both holding the same overall time ….

Lance Armstrong again target of doping accusations:
This time Floyd Landis makes allegations

[Updates with reaction from Armstrong, Hincapie and WADA]

In a series of e-mails written to cycling officials and sponsors disclosed by the Wall Street Journal and ESPN.com, Floyd Landis admits to doping to enhance his performance during his cycling career.

More explosive, however, are his assertions that Lance Armstrong, Levi Leipheimer, George Hincapie and David Zabriskie all participated in various forms of doping while they were together at the U.S. Postal Service cycling team.

Armstrong immediately rejected the accusations, but the World Anti-Doping Agency says it will investigate the charges.

Armstrong reacted  before the beginning of Stage 5 of the Tour of California, with team manager Johann Bruyneel at his side:

“It's our word against his word. I like our word. We like our credibility. We have nothing to hide. Nothing to run from.” …
