Hundreds of cyclists dressed up in their favorite costumes and rode their bikes in the Tour de Fat bike parade around Seattle's Fremont neighborhood on Saturday.

The parade is the opening event in the day-long bike festival presented for the past three years here by New Belgium Brewery, from Fort Collins, Colorado.

After returning to the home base at Gas Works Park along the Burke Gilman Trail, folks enjoyed some challenging bicycle rides, played games and listened to the entertainment.

The highlight of the day was the awarding of a New Belgium cruiser bike to a person who traded in their car and pledged to use the bike for the next year.

The event benefited Bike Works and the Bicycle Alliance of Washington. More Tours de Fat are coming up in Portland, Boise, and Denver among other locations. Check the full list here.
