A faulty fork steer tube is the culprit in the latest recall by Felt Bicycles.
The recall of 2,100 bicycles follows seven reported steering tube breaks, according to the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission which is cooperating with the recall.
Felt recommends that anyone who owns a 2009 Felt model B12 (pictured), B16 and S32 road bicycle to stop riding it immediately and contact a local Felt Bicycles dealer for free inspection and repair.
The bikes were manufactured by ADK Technology Limited of China. The bikes were sold nationwide from October 2008 until May 2010 for between $2,300 to $3,100 per bicycle.
The 3 models are described:
- 2009 B12 – These bicycles are gloss silver/carbon and have carbon fiber frames with carbon fiber forks with aluminum steer tubes.
- 2009 B16 – These bicycles are matte black/red and have carbon fiber frames with carbon fiber forks with aluminum steer tubes.
- 2009 S32 – These bicycles are available in gloss white/red and have aluminum frames with carbon fiber forks with aluminum steer tubes.

This is not the first recall for Felt Bicycles regarding steering tubes.
In August 2009, the Irvine, California-based Felt recalled 1,500 cyclocross bicycles from 2007 and 2008 because the potential that the steering tubes on those bicycles could snap. Those bikes were manufactured by Aprebic/EVO Industry Co. Ltd. of Taiwan.
