Fashion statement from Team RadioShack; and the new Madone

Team RadioShack has issued a sneak peak of the prototype jersey the new US-based pro cycling team might be wearing next year.

Then Trek released a photo of the Madone that Team RadioShack will use in 2010. The graphic scheme will be available to the public in March.

I like the distinctive look of the jersey.

With the grey top and red through the torso, it should be easy to spot from helicopter camera views of the peloton. That's especially helpful if you're trying to find Lance Armstrong's team on a foreign language broadcast.

From the looks of the first day of training camp in Tucson on Monday, the team could use its own jersey.

Pictures of the first group ride over the Arizona countryside shows the teammembers sporting their old kits, such as Astana, Euskaltel Euskadi, and Saxo Bank. Armstrong wore Mellow Yellow. You can see those photos at  cycling coach Neil Browne's Browne Eye Blog.

The new team kit will be unveiled at RadioShack's first race, the Tour Down Under, which rolls out in South Australia from Jan. 17 – 24.

At a press conference in Tucson, Armstrong said that he expected to retire after the 2011 season. That means two more years of cycling for the Texan.

He also said he wants to win at least one more Tour de France, but emphasized that Team RadioShack is not built around him.

You can sign up for email updates from Team RadioShack at its website. It's also releasing team news on Twitter and Facebook.

There are multiple photos of the RadioShack Madone at the Trek Bicycle Facebook fan page.
