The Garmin-Chipotle team announced its 9-man 2008 Tour de France squad on Tuesday that includes three Americans — Christian Vande Velde, left, Danny Pate and Will Frischkorn.

Missing from the action will be Tom Danielson, David Zabriskie and Washington state's Tyler Farrar of Wenatchee and Tom Peterson of North Bend.

Individual time trial specialist Zabriskie is recovering from an injured vertabrae he suffered during the Giro d'Italia. Don't know about Farrar, Peterson or Danielson; it would have been the first TdF for each.

Formerly known as Slipstream-Chipotle, this is the pro continental cycling team's biggest race so far. The team surprised many observers in this year's Giro d'Italia by winning the opening team time trial, which placed Vande Velde in the pink jersey.

The complete Tour roster as released by Garmin-Chipotle:

• Magnus Backstedt (Switzerland)
• Julian Dean (New Zealand)
• Will Frischkorn (US, Charlottesville, VA)
• Ryder Hesjedal (Canada)
• Trent Lowe (Australia)
• Martijn Maaskant (Netherlands)
• David Millar (UK)
• Danny Pate (US, Colorado Springs)
• Christian Vande Velde (US, Lemont, Illinois)

The Garmin-Chipotle website has bios on each of the riders.
