American cyclist Floyd Landis won the Thursday time trial in the Tour de Georgia.

VeloNews reports Landis (Phonak) scored an upset victory, as he beat former teammate, and last year's winner, Lance Armstrong. In fact, Americans rounded out the top four places, as Landis was joined by David Zabriskie (CSC), second; Chris Baldwin (Navigators),  third; and Bobby Julich (CSC), fourth. Armstrong finished 9th.

The 18.6-mile individual time trial in Rome was the third stage of the Tour de Georgia, which finishes on Sunday. Cyclists enter the North Georgia mountains on Friday as they race 133 miles from Dalton to Dahlonega.
