The first American to win the Tour, LeMond is a frequent participant in charity bike rides. In addition to riding some Tour de Cures, he also has biked in the Pan-Mass Challenge in Massachusetts and the Dam2Dam Thumbs Up! charity ride in Wenatchee, Washington.
This year's Tour de Cure features five options — 15, 20, 45, 70 and 100 miles — that all leave and return to Marymoor Park in Redmond. Maps are available at the Tour de Cure website.
The website says cyclists who raise $5,000 are eligible to participate in Team LeMond. They'll get an autographed jersey and photo with him, as well as ride with him that day.
All riders who register for the charity ride also can take advantage of a free training program offered by Cycle University; rides and clinics begin April 5.
Participants can ride as individuals or join or create a team.
