Comment on Bellevue (WA) proposed bike project map

The Bellevue (Washington) Transportation Commission is preparing to meet next year to discuss the project list for the Pedestrian and Bicycle Plan.

Meanwhile, residents can leave comments directly on separate bicycle, pedestrian and trail plan maps.

The interactive online map (an example above) for bicycling projects shows overlays for the bike paths, bike lanes, and on-street bike routes. By clicking on a symbol, the user can see details about the project's location leave a comment.

There's also an overlay that shows existing bicycle facilities.

The Transportation Commission will consider the projects at meetings on Jan. 24, Feb. 21, and March 27. The commission meets at 6:30 p.m. in Room 1E-113, City Hall, 450 110th Ave., NE, Bellevue.

The city's staff has been seeking public input on the Walk and Roll 2007 plan since it launched an online survey in March 2007. That survey drew more than 1,000 responses. That was followed by focus group meetings.

The Walk & Roll 2007 Pedestrian- Bike Plan was prepared by this fall and presented in several community meetings.

Looking through the maps, there's a lot on the plate for bicyclists, but you might not agree with all the proposals on the maps. If you plan on riding your bicycle around Bellevue, you owe it to yourself to check out those maps and leave comments. I certainly plan to.
