US leads first round of BMX Supercross world cup

Mike Day and Kyle Bennett placed first and second in the first round of the elite men's time trials qualificiations of the 2007 UCI BMX Supercross World Cup on Monday.

The event is part of the 2007 Good Luck Beijing games, a run-up to the 2008 Summer Olympics.

Day and Bennett logged 36.543secs. and 36.710secs respectively. The Good Luck games website reports that, to enter the second day of competition, riders need a time of 39 seconds.

BMX will be new to the Olympics in 2008.

USA Cycling reports that it's sending 20 BMX cyclists to the Good Luck Games, a test for the 2008 Summer Olympics. There are:
