Three-time Tour de France winner Greg LeMond is scheduled to participate in next weekend's Tour de Cure activities at Marymoor Park in Redmond.

The one-day bike ride on May 19 is a fund-raiser for the American Diabetes Association. Ride participants who have raised and submitted $2,500 or more by Saturday, May 12, will each receive two invitations to a reception held by LeMond on the evening of May 18.

Although LeMond makes his home in Minneapolis, he makes business trips to the Seattle area about every six weeks or so to visit the LeMond Fitness company headquarters in Woodville. LeMond Fitness is a maker of stationary exercise bikes.

As honorary chairman of the Tour de Cure, LeMond checks in at many of the ADA charity rides held annually across the US. He attended a Tour de Cure in Napa Valley last weekend and is scheduled on the June 9 Tour de Cure in Brigham City, Utah.

The upcoming Tour de Cure starts at Marymoor Park in Redmond and features ride options of 100, 70, 45, 20 and 15 miles. Many of the participants have trained on teams following a regimen set up by Cycle University.

The Seattle P-I interviewed LeMond when he participated in last year's Tour de Cure.
