This year's RAGBRAI — Register's Annual Great Bicycle Ride Across Iowa — is going to be the flattest bike ride ever.

Organizers issued that good news when they announced the host towns for RAGBRAI's 35th annual rolling party across Iowa, scheduled for July 22-26.

Following a 478-mile west-to-east route, RAGBRAI will start this year in Rock Rapids, then head to Spencer (July 22), Humbolt (July 23), Hampton (July 24), Cedar Falls (July 25), Independence (July 26), Dyersville (July 27) and the finish in Bellevue (July 28).

The exact routes with towns the ride passed through will be announced March 5.

The arrival of 8,000 to 10,000 RAGBRAI bicyclists can add a $200,000 impact to the host city.

Seven-time Tour de France winner Lance Armstrong says he's riding RAGBRAI again this year, and says he'll stay for the whole week. In addition to enjoying the biking love, he's trying to drum up support in Iowa — an early gem in the presidential race — to make cancer funding an election issue.

Deadine to register is April 1, 2007. Entries are awarded by lottery.
