Floyd Landis' new explanation for doping

Floyd Landis appeared on Jay Leno's Tonight Show to offer still another possible reason why he tested positive for a high testosterone level in the Tour de France.

“I don't know if it's somehow or some way I ingested something that caused the tests to be that way,'' Landis told Leno.

Landis was fired from the Phonak after two urine samples taken after Stage 17 both showed a 11-to-1 ratio of testosterone to epitestosterone, and the presence of synthetic testosterone. The high ratio and synthetics indicate doping, which is not allowed.

For those of you keeping score at home, Landis has attributed his high testosterone levels to:
1) naturally high testosterone;
2) washing down a couple of beers with several Jack Daniels' the night before the race;
3) cortisone shots for his hip;
4) thyroid medication;
5) dehydration.

In addition to Leno, Landis has appeared on:
NBC’s Today Show with Matt Lauer
ABC’s Goodmorning America LIVE w/ Robin Roberts
CBS LIVE with Armen Katayian
CNN LIVE News
ESPN News
Fox News with Anita Vogel

A couple of days after reports surfaced, Landis pleaded his case on Larry King Live.

Check the Floyd Landis blog for updates. He's scheduled for hip surgery in the next couple of weeks, then the US Anti-Doping Agency gets his case to consider a two-year suspension.
