Organizers of the second annual Amgen Tour of California have announced the host cities for the 8-day stage race next February.
The list comprises 12 cities, some new for 2007, for the 650-mile bicycle race that's scheduled from February 18-25.
Presented by AEG, a subsidiary of the Anschutz Company, the race is sanctioned by Union Cycliste International and USA Cycling. Floyd Landis won the inaugural race, which included many top US cyclists, including George Hincapie and Levi Leipheimer.
The schedule is:
Feb. 18 — Prologue, San Francisco
Feb. 19 — Stage 1, Sausalito to Santa Rosa
Feb. 20 — Stage 2, Santa Rosa to Sacramento
Feb. 21 — Stage 3, Stockton to San Jose
Feb. 22 — Stage 4, Seaside to San Luis Obispo
Feb. 23 — Stage 5, Solvang time trial
Feb. 24 — Santa Barbara to Santa Clarita
Feb. 25 — Long Beach circuit race
According to promotions on OLN during the Tour de France, the California stage race will be televised on the Versus network (that's the new name for OLN).
