Sausalito, California-based Yuba Bicycles is recalling about 1,000 Mundo brand cargo bikes because passengers’ feet can get caught in the rear wheel.
The company and the US Consumer Product Safety Commission are urging owners to stop using the bicycle and to get them fitted with free wheel covers or wheel skirts installed at no charge.
The company said it had two reports of persons catching their feet in the rear wheels, but no injuries.
The Mundo V4 cargo bikes, made in China, have steel frames, fenders and a wooden utility deck that can be used as a passenger seat on the rear cargo rack. The bikes are orange, black or blue.
The bicycles cost about $1,099 and were sold nationwide by independent dealers and online at the Yuba Bicycles website from May 2011 through December 2012.
For more information about the free wheel skirts and installation, contact Yuba Bicycles toll free at (877) 889-9822 from 9 to 4 (PT) Monday through Friday. Also see the Yuba Mundo recall page at the Yuba website for more information.
