Faulty bike rack
Salsa Cycles is recalling about 1,100 faulty bicycle racks that can break off the bike, causing the rider to lose control.
The wholly owned brand of Bloomington, Minn.-based Quality Bicycle Products recommends that users immediate remove the racks from their bikes and take them to authorized Salsa dealers for inspection, re-mounting or a refund.
The problem is that the L-shaped mountain straps that attach the Salsa Minimalist brand racks to the bike frame can break; the company has received two such reports resulting in minor injuries.
The Minimalist rack, made in Taiwan, were sold between January 2011 and March 2012 for about $80. The racks are tubular aluminum and come in black or silver. The word Salsa is printed on the side.
