Police are seeking the public's help in finding the driver of a gray or silver Kia Forte (an example at left) who hit a 65-year-old bicyclist on Friday and left her at the side of the road.

Barbara Jimenez was riding her bicycle on the shoulder of SE 288th St. near Black Diamond, Washington, on Friday afternoon when she was struck from behind by a motorist who sped away.

Authorities reported they found a silver-colored passenger-side mirror at the scene belonging to a 2010 to 2012 Kia Forte. Also, there are tire tracks in the gravel at the side of the road.

Jimenez, who turned 66 on Saturday, is recovering at home. Her husband says she's suffering from cuts, bruises, a fractured nose, and concussion. Her whole body is skinned up, he told KOMO News.com.

The force of the collision threw her onto into the grass at the side of the road. Her husband said her helmet is cracked in five places where it absorbed the impact.

The Black Diamond Police Department is asking anyone with any information regarding the collision or the motorist to contact them at (253) 631-1012.

The hit and run on Friday is just the latest in a series of unsolved crimes against bicyclists on the Eastside in the past few weeks.

On the morning of Sept. 30, a man bicycling to work was shot in the knee with a pellet gun on SE 36th Street in Bellevue (that's the street that runs along I-90 between Eastgate and Factoria). Bellevue police are investigating that shooting.

And last Friday, Bike to Work Seattle and Seattle Bike Blog report,  carpet tacks strewn across the eastside of the I-90 bridge from Mercer Island to Seattle punctured a slew of bicycle tires.
