The Colombians went on the attack once again in the final stage of the 2011 Tour of Utah on Sunday but they couldn't unseat Team RadioShack's Levi Leipheimer.
The defending champion hung on to win his second Tour of Utah on a stage that boasted some 12,000 feet of elevation gain over 106 miles to the summit of the Snowmass Ski Resort.
The Colombian cyclist, Sergio Henao, who earned yellow jersey in the prologue and held it until Friday, won the stage on Sunday. He finished second in the overall competition.
His teammates on Gobernacion De Antioquia-Indeportes Antio softened the peloton with their constant attacks on the final climb to Snowmass, but couldn't dislodge Leipheimer from the podium.
The Colombian team certainly sparked this week-long bicycle race, winning the prologue and two stages. Henao earned the yellow jersey in the prologue and held it until Friday; he finished second overall.
Deja vu
What's cool is that many of these same players will return for the USA Pro Cycling Challenge from Aug. 22-28 in Colorado.
Leipheimer is on the roster for Team RadioShack, which could be looking for a sweep of the big 3 US stage races in 2011 after Chris Horner won Tour of California and Leipheimer Tour of Utah.
Colombia's Gobernacion De Antioquia-Indeportes Antio is returning with the same roster and can be expected to light some sparks in the Rocky Mountains.
Also on hand in Colorado will be Tour de France winner Cadel Evans and the BMC Racing Team, as well as the Brothers Schleck on the Leopard Trek.
