Why should the stages get easier on the peloton just because the Giro d'Italia is drawing to a close?
The penultimate stage of the three-week race is marked by a summit finish, just like seven previous stages.
On the way to the Category 2 Sestriere finish, however, the peloton will first cross the Category 1 Colle delle Finestre.
The first three-quarters of the 242km (150-mile) Stage 20 route from Verbania to Sestriere is mostly flat. The fireworks will ignite when the cyclists hit the bottom of the first climb.
Here, presented by CyclingtheAlps.com, are profiles and 3D Tours of those final climbs.
First is a profile view of the Colle delle Finestre.
Next is a 3D Tour of the Colle delle Finestre.
