Honk Fest West jams at Gas Works Park in Seattle

One of many cyclists who rolled into Gas Works Park in Seattle on Saturday enjoys listening to Orkestar Zirkonium.

The local Balkan band was one of more than a dozen from across the western US and Canada participating in the fourth Honk Fest West to serenade Seattle this weekend.

The bands will perform one last time throughout the Seattle Center grounds beginning at 2 p.m. Sunday.

The pleasant sunny weather, unusual in the Pacific Northwest this spring, drew many cyclists out to the Burke-Gilman Trail, which happens to pass right by Gas Works Park. I wonder how many of them just happened to stop in when they heard the music.

My son and I made it a point to go there for a nice 35-mile training ride for Biking Across Kansas next month. The outdoor concert made for a good destination for folks, and the music was a gas.

You can hear Orkestar Zirkonium at their website.
