With the 40th anniversary of the 1976 Bikecentennial bike tour rolling out this year, a lot of people are finding ways to commemorate the event.
Terry Taylor is one of them. A life-long bicyclist since he received his first bike from his father in 1944, Terry participated in that first Transamerica bike ride in 1976.
Now, at 78, Terry will retrace that route this summer from Oregon to Virginia.
Here’s a great video shot last year by Terry’s nephew, Peter Taylor. He explains his love of bicycling — something we all understand but sometimes struggle to put into words for others.
The video raised a lot of interest in Terry’s plans for a Transamerica bike ride this summer, so Peter plans to shoot a documentary about the ride.
Peter has launched a Kickstarter campaign to raise money to pay for the documentary – “A Life on Two Wheels”. Deadline to contribute is Friday morning. You can learn more about it here.
Good luck to Terry and his Transamerica ride. I’m sure a lot of us would like to join him.
