Specialized Bicycle Components is recalling 173 Source Eleven and Source Expert Disc bicycles with Supernova Switchable Dynamo Front Hubs after a problem with the front hub cropped up.
The Morgan Hill, California-based company and the Consumer Product Safety Commission is urging owners to stop riding the bicycles and to return them to a Specialized dealer for a replacement front wheel and a new Supernova hub.
The CPSC says that the set screws in the front hub can loosen and prevent the front wheel from turning, creating the possibility of a fall. The company said no accidents or injuries have been reported due to the malfunction.
The recalled bicycles are model year 2012 and were sold from October 2011 to September 2013 from Specialized bicycle dealers. The front hubs have “www.supernova-lights.com” and one of the following model numbers printed on them: 1207, 1208, 1226, 1227, 1228, 1241, 1254, 1263, 1284 and 1344.
