Noted actor Gene Hackman was apparently “rammed” by a car while riding his bicycle on a side road in the Florida Keys on Friday.

Hackman, who is 81, suffered non-life-threatening injuries to his legs and body. His publicist told the Daily News that Hackman is already on his way home.

It's good to know the actor survived the collision with just some bruises. It's also very cool to learn that he keeps in shape by riding a bicycle.

Hackman was airlifted off the island by helicopter and taken to the Ryder Trauma Center at Jackson Memorial Hospital in Miami. The Florida Highway Patrol is investigating why he was struck from behind by a car driven by a 60-year-old woman.

Early reports said Hackman received head trauma, but his publicist said he was “OK” and on his way home.

Hackman has played a wide range of roles in his career, from Lex Luther in Superman to Jimmy “Popeye” Doyle in The French Connection to the Reverend Scott in The Poseiden Adventure.
