Cycling fans in the US will have a six-pack of UCI classified road race events in this country next year as cycling's governing body recently set its 2012 America's Tour calendar.

In all, there are 26 bicycle races on the calendar for North and South America.

It's good to see the Tour of Utah and USA Pro Cycling Challenge, both won by Levi Leipheimer, back on the calendar in 2012.

The Colorado stage race, launched in 2011, was even elevated to 2.0 category, the same as Amgen Tour of California.

The Illinois-based Tour of Elk Grove, celebrating its 7th year in 2012, itself was elevated to 2.1. Race organizer Steven Hansen told CyclingNews that he hopes the upgrade and schedule just ahead of Tour of Utah will draw WorldTour teams to the race.

May 13 – 20: Amgen Tour of California; 2.0 HC
June 3: TD Bank International Cycling Championship; 1.0 HC
Aug. 3 – 5: Tour of Elk Grove; 2.1 HC
Aug. 7 – 12: Tour of Utah; 2.1 HC
Aug. 20 – 26: USA Pro Cycling Challenge; 2.0 HC
Sept. 15: Univest Grand Prix; 1.2 HC
