A bike un-friendly stretch on Biking Across Kansas

We spent another great day cycling through the scenic Flint Hills on Thursday as Biking Across Kansas closed in on the Missouri border.
The only bummer was 10 miles of improperly placed rumble strips that stretched across the entire shoulder of U.S. 50 approaching Emporia.
The rumble strips aggravated saddle sores and vibrated tender hands. Although warned not to, some cyclists tried to avoid the rumbles by veering into the traffic lanes — a dangerous proposition. This design isn't to highway code, as far as I know.
My son and I feel a little more in our cycling element with the rolling hills here. Not as much big chainring cranking in the rolling hills.
On a final note, I've sworn off any more pulled pork. It's on the menu for two meals a day… maybe all three if I asked the source of the meat at breakfast. It's getting to be too much of a good thing for me
61 miles from Cottonwood Falls to Burlington.
