Biking Across Kansas heats up

Here are a couple of cyclists on Biking Across Kansas who got an early start for the 67-mile ride from Ness City to Hoisington.
Those who left early and kept the pedals turning would have missed the day's hottest temperatures that topped 100 degrees.
Other cyclists, like myself, hung around La Crosse maybe a bit too long to visit the museum for the Barbed Wire Capital of the World. We also checked out the Post Rock Museum, where we learned how limestone is cut.
I visited another attraction, the picnic shelter at city park where I slept on my TransAmerica bike tour more than 20 years ago.
It's all the same, including Paw Paw's drive in across the street.
The other big event of the day occurred in Rush Center where we left Hwy. 96 for the first time in 2 1/2 days.
Another early departure on Tuesday for the 76-mile stage to McPherson.
