Busing across Kansas

For many of us, Biking Across Kansas starts with an 8-hour bus ride across the state.
Here's the loading zone in Kansas City where folks wait to roll their bikes into a rental truck for the trip. This is the 37th year for B.A.K., so the riders are confident their bikes will arrive in Tribune unscathed.
The bus ride is giving us a good indication of the 475 miles to come. From the window, we see miles and miles of rolling pastureland.
Stopped in a family restaurant decorated with red, white and blue in Salina. Hearing about our ride, an elderly woman with a walker told us, "I'm so proud of you I could pop my buttons." Emerging from the restaurant, it's a steady stiff wind that tests our buttons.
