The snowy weather that gives the Sierra Nevada its name is chasing the Amgen Tour of California out of the mountains on Monday for a Stage 2 start at 12:15 p.m. (PT) in Nevada City.
[It got underway from Nevada City right about on time.]
The stage was supposed to start at 10:15 a.m. at North Lake Tahoe – Squaw Valley.
The new route picks up the Stage 2 route and wraps up in Sacramento at about the same time — 3:30 to 4 p.m. — for an abbreviated 61-mile stage. The cyclists should arrive in California's capital city about 3 p.m., then do three circuit laps, instead of just one as originally planned.
The race will finish in front of the Capitol Building.

The relocation of the start out of the severe weather conditions in the mountains follows the complete abandonment of Stage 1 due to wintery weather conditions on Sunday.
For live video-stream of the race, see the RadioShack Tour Tracker. [Streaming video coverage on Tour Tracker doesn't start until 1:45, although some other functions are working.]
Versus will televise from 5-7 p.m. (ET); that's 2-4 p.m. (PT).
