[Paul Andrews at Bike Intelligencer looked at this recall notice in-depth after being informed it was an “old recall.” Apparently Specialized issued a “stop sale notice” and a press release warning of an upcoming recall back on Nov. 23, 2009. This is that recall. In the press release, Specialized states:

“For those who own an affected bicycle, Specialized realizes that this may cause you to lose valuable trail time, we apologize and are offering you a small token of appreciation for your patience and loyalty which will be mailed directly to you.”  ]

The recall alloy seat stays on the following 2010 Specialized 26” Era and 26” Epic bicycles: 2010 Epic Marathon Carbon, 2010 Epic Marathon Frame, 2010 Epic Expert Carbon, 2010 Epic Expert, 2010 Epic Comp Carbon, 2010 Epic Comp, 2010 Era FSR Expert Carb, 2010 Era FSR Expert and 2010 Era FSR Comp.

Owners should stop riding them immediately and return them to the dealer for free repair.

Klean Kanteen of Chico, CA is recalling about 1.2 million water bottle spouts that can break.

The stainless steel water bottle maker received six reports of the spouts breaking or cracking while in children's mouths, according to the Consumer Product Safety Commission. A company press release says the breaks or cracks occurred after the water bottles were dropped. No injuries were reported.

Made in China, the black Sport Cap 2.0 was sold between April 2009 and April 2010 for about $5 separately and $15 to $28 when sold with a bottle.
