If the winter weather is getting to you, this video should remind you that good bicycle traveling days are ahead.
This 6:18-minute video is a compilation of photos taken on the Bike the US for MS 2009 cross-country bike tour from Virginia to Oregon that raised $25,000 for the charity.
According to Adventure Cycling Association's Bike Bits newsletter, MS biker Bret Taylor attached a digital camera to his bicycle and set it to shoot an image every 5 miles. He strung the images together and added music. What a cool idea.
The result is a video that reminds many of us of our TransAmerican adventures [some of those barns still look familiar after 26 years!] or quickens the blood of those making plans to set out cross-country in 2010.
If you're interested, Bike the US for MS is registering a team for this year's bike tour from June 1 to August 1.
This year's route starts in Yorktown, Virginia, and follows the TransAmerica route to Pueblo, Colorado, where it picks up ACA's Western Express route to San Francisco. It's about 470 miles less than last year's route to the Northwest.
You can read more about next year's riders, the route and sponsors at Bike the US for MS website.
