Owners of Felt F1X Cyclocross Bikes from 2007 and 2008 should stop riding because a faulty steerer tube can break, causing an injury.

The Irving, California-based bike distributor recalled 1,500 of the bikes manufactured by Aprebic/EVO Industry Co. Ltd., of Taiwan.

Felt received six reports of steerer tubes breaking, causing falls and minor cuts.

Bike specialty stores nationwide sold the bicycles from July 2006 to April 2009 for $1,400 to $1,500, according to the US Consumer Product Safety Commission. The aluminum bikes with carbon fiber forks with aluminum steerer tubes came in semimatte black.

Felt reps say to return the bike to a Felt dealer, where it will be checked and repaired for free. For more information, contact the Felt website or call toll-free at (866) 433-5887 between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. PT Monday through Friday.

Burley trailer recall

Burley Design of Eugene, Oregon, has recalled about 2,700 2009 d’lite ST and Solo ST Child Trailers because a wheel can fall off the trailers.

The US Consumer Product Safety Commission says owners should stop using the trailers immediately and contact Burley for a free repair kit or have a dealer make the repair.

The recalled trailers are designed to carry one or two children behind a bicycle. Only the 2009 d’lite ST and 2009 Solo ST trailers with serial numbers that begin with D939 or D948 are included in the recall. The serial number is located in the rear cargo area behind the seat on the lower left rear frame tube. The trailers have “d’lite ST” or “solo ST” screen printed on the cover.

The company hasn't received any reports of failure, accorfding to the Consumer Product Safety Commission. The axle assembly’s internal sleeve can loosen, causing one wheel to separate from the trailer.

For more information and repair details, check the Burley Design website or call (800) 311-5294 between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. PT Monday through Friday.

Cannibal Bicycles

In a much smaller recall, Nirve Sports Ltd. of Huntington Beach, California, recalled 120 Cannibal Bicycles because the bicycle stem can crack and cause the rider to lose control.

The Cannibal “Chopper” model bicycles with graphic designs by artist Corey Miller have a black matte finish. The affected bicycles have a serial number within the following range: L8E0300001 – L8E1001050.

You know the drill: stop riding immediately and return them to the store where they were purchased for free repair. See the Nirve Sports website for details, or call Nirve Sports toll-free at (888) 296-4783 between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. PT Monday through Friday.
