“I'm doing all right for an old man.”
That's what Lance Armstrong told Australia's Ten network after completing his first day of riding around Adelaide in 104-degree heat. “I feel like I’ve trained hard. The difference will be (in) going from training pace to actually racing.”
Even at 37, though, Armstrong isn't the old man in the peloton. At least one, Jens Voigt, (right) is older. By one day.
Armstrong was born Sept. 18, 1971. Voigt was born in Germany on Sept. 17, 1971.

There could be some older cyclists; I just checked the Tour Down Under roster for the ones who've I've heard about for years until I found one older than Armstrong.
A member of Team Saxo Bank (formerly Team CSC), Voigt has been a pro since 1997, and he didn't take three years off for retirement.
A work-a-day team cyclist in the big races, he has played a part in capturing breakaways and pacing the team leaders in such races as the Giro d'Italia and Tour de France.
A check of his bio shows he's won the Tour of Germany (2006 and 2007) and the Criterium International (1999, 2004, 2007, and 2008) among other races.
It will be interesting to see how well these two “old men” do in the heat of the Tour Down Under, which runs from next Tuesday through Jan. 25. They'll also ride in the Classic on Sunday evening in Adelaide.
