The 2008 Tour of Missouri and the Garmin-Chipotle pro cycling team will be featured on NBC Sports on Saturday.
The Nov. 15 episode of Jeep World of Adventure Sports begins its so-called “green initiative” to raise awareness of global environmental issues.
One segment is a behind-the-scenes look at Team Garmin-Chipotle during the Tour of Missouri that rolled out Sept. 8-14.
This should be interesting to cycling fans as Garmin's Christian Vande Velde, above, won the championship this year.
Missouri's top cheerleader for the Tour, Lt. Gov. Peter Kinder, announced the bicycle race was part of the action-adventure sports series:
“This television program provides yet another avenue for us to highlight the success of this year’s race across the nation. With the Tour of Missouri’s extensive media partnerships, we are now able to showcase the state of Missouri as a world-class tourist destination.”
Other segments include interviews with Save Our Winters founder and snowboarder Jeremy Jones, kayaking in Zambia, freestyle skier Simon Dumont and a look at the filming of the “Under the Influence” snowsports documentary.
World of Adventure Sports airs Saturday, Nov. 15, from 2:30 – 4 p.m. (ET), 11:30-1 (PT) on NBC (check local listings).
Meanwhile, Argyle-ophiles might want to make their way to the Boulder Theater in Boulder, Colorado, on Saturday, Nov. 22 for the team presentation, as well as a fund-raising auction to support a local Children's Hospital and Q&A with the cyclists. More information at the Garmin website.
