Ivan Dominguez, the Cuban Missile of Toyota-United, is the latest sprinter to fall victim to Mark Cavenish at the 2008 Tour of Missouri.

Cavendish owns three stage wins at the Tour of Missouri so far; his first stage wins on US soil. His victory on Saturday marks 18 for Team Columbia's Cavenish, including four at the Tour de France.

Team Columbia has worked all year at getting the 23-year-old British sprinter to the front of the pack where he can launch himself over the line. The finish for the 96-mile bike race from Hermann to St. Charles was no exception.

Columbia took control at the front of the peloton heading toward the finish line and Cavendish accelerated from there. Dominguez finished second and Brad Huff of Jelly Belly finished third.

Team Garmin Chipotle did the work to keep Christian Vande Velde out of trouble and in line for the Tour of Missouri championship. The Lemont, Illinois, native is still in first place needs to keep his 18-second margin ahead of Michael Rogers of Team Columbia.

Sunday's finale in St. Louis promises to be a wet one with the remnants of Hurricane Ike passing through. Heavy rain and winds gusting from 20 to 30 mph are forecast.

The peloton is scheduled to ride five laps around St. Louis in the 70-mile circuit stage that starts at about 2 p.m. local time.
