The global gossip press launched into fits of speculation after Lance Armstrong was seen taking a couple of dinners this past weekend in Austin with actress Kate Hudson.
Hudson formerly dated actor Owen Wilson, who is one of Armstrong's Hollywood celebrity friends. Wilson also once dated singer Sheryl Crowe. Therefore, spotting Hudson and Armstrong together raised the possibilities for a new Armstrong romance.
The Defamer.com blog threw cold water on the entire episode, however. The blog notes the “cozy” dinner comprised a group of six people, not including four kids, and Armstrong and Hudson didn't even sit together. Also, you don't have tacos on a “first date.” Further, Armstrong was just trying to draw attention to Livestrong Day.
Livestrong Day
I'll agree with Defamer on the first two points, but I don't see how having dinner with Hudson on the weekend is going to call attention to Livestrong Day, which happened earlier in the week.
Livestrong Day is a one-day initiative to raise funds and awareness for the fight against cancer by the Lance Armstrong Foundation. On Tuesday, May 13, Armstrong did a coast-to-coast tour, visiting hospitals in New York City, Columbus, Ohio, Denver and Las Vegas.
(Wait a minute, I just gave an after-the-fact plug to Livestrong Day based on a Hudson-Armstrong dinner.)
AP has a story on the weekend rendevous, without the romantic overtones.
I'm not taking this thing seriously until Armstrong's mom meets up with Hudson's mom, Goldie Hawn.
