If you like seeing what bicycles other touring cyclists are riding, then you may already know about Fully Loaded Touring Bicycles on Tour.
Ron W has posted more than 280 photos of fully loaded touring bikes “at work” that have been submitted by their proud owners. The bikes are identified — everything from the Seven Vacanza to the Surly Long Haul Trucker — and you can see how they're packed.
Now he's added the FLT Gallery Profiles Page that features examples of the photographic work of touring cyclists and links to their websites. It's about more than the bike. It's about where the bike can take you.
Guidelines
Ron has posted guidelines for the photos; the first shows a touring bike in the locale, the second shows a scene from the tour (with or without a bicycle), and the third is a landscape or cityscape shot without a bicycle, such as a scene from the road.
So far, he features the work of 10 touring cyclists. Some focus on just one bike tour, such as a TransAmerica trek or a tour around Ethiopia, Southeast Asia or eastern Tibet (Stephen Lord, above). Others, like Nicolai Bangsgaard, are bicycling around the world.
The photos these travellers take are amazing, not only for their composition but for the scenes they portray. You can check out the switchbacks up a mountain in Tibet, the Oregon coast, or work horses pulling wagons in Eastern Europe.
Be prepared to spend a lot of time vicariously touring from the profiles page, but don't forget to get out there on your own.
