Plenty of cool bicycle wall calendars for 2008

Be aware that you're going to have a big ol' bare spot on your wall in a couple of weeks if you haven't bought a bicycling calendar to replace that 2007 model.

There are lots of bicycle calendars to choose from online. Some feature scenic road and mountain biking locales, while others feature professional and recreational women cyclists from around the world and across the Northwest.

As usual, the Cyclepassion 2008 wall calendar is undoubtedly the hottest one out there this year. Instead of relying on professional models, it features pro women cyclists. That's Norwegian mountain biker Gunn-Rita Dahle-Flesja on the cover.

Inside, other pro women include Emilia Fahlin, Niki Gudex, Irina Kalentieva, and Andrea Lacondeguy. The calendar was shot by Daniel Geiger. There are a series of videos about the making of the Cyclepassion calendar at YouTube.

Do you like babes on bikes?  Two Northwest-produced calendars feature local ladies.

The Lovely Ladies on Beautiful Bikes calendar is available in 2008 for its second year. The calendar features female members of the .83 bicycle club of Seattle riding their favorite bikes in their favorite settings. Check it out quick, it sold out in 2007.

The Portland-based Sprockettes are back with another calendar. According to Jonathan Maus at BikePortland.org:

“This year’s calendar will be bigger, glossier, and full of more awesome photos, graphics and pure Sprockette dancing goodness than ever before.”

You can see a couple of pages and order it from the BikePortland website. Use the “Buy It” button at the bottom of the page.

Pro cycling

Back to the traditional bicycling wall calendar, ace photographer Graham Watson returns with a large, 15 X 12 inch, 2008 calendar. It features more than 40 photos from the 2007 season and lists many bicycle racing for the coming year.

The Cycle and Recycle Calendar for 2008 is already sold out. This cool calendar from the International Bicycle Fund celebrates the bicycle as an everyday transportation vehicle in many seasons and many locales. If you want to hang onto it, the calendar can be reused in 2036 and 2064.

Trails calendar

The Rails-to-Trails Conservancy is offering an extremely good calendar deal: With a gift of $35 of more, before Jan. 5, you get a 2008 Rails-to-Trails calendar and a year-long membership to the organization. Go to the Rails-to-Trails link here.

There are plenty of other bicycle calendars out there. I'll close with a link to Have Bike, Will Travel 2008, featuring bicycles in beautiful locales.
