Those of you following the case of West Seattle cyclist Peter McKay, who is carrying around a couple of BBs fired by someone in a passing car, might be interested in this story from Maryland.
A 17-year-old student from Bowie, Maryland, faces serious charges in connection with the BB-gun shooting of a bicyclist on a bike trail.
The teen was charged Oct. 25 with first degree assault, second degree assault and possession of a dangerous weapon with intent to injure, according to the Maryland Gazette.
Five days earlier, Eric A. Nussbaumer, a 30-year-old College Park resident told police he was bicycling on the Bowie Town Center Trail when a gold Chevy Impala drove past and the driver shot him.
The BB pellet is still lodged in the man's thigh because doctors said it was too deep to remove.
Similarities
This sounds a lot like the shooting of McKay, who was commuting home when he was shot from a passing car. Two BBs — one which punctured his lung and another that just missed his aorta — are still lodged in his body.
Supporters are raising money for a reward fund and to place posters around the city. More details at John's Ramblings.
Let's hope their efforts lead to the arrest of the Seattle-area shooter.
