Road cyclists head to China for pre-Olympic racing

Cyclists representing road cycling teams from several countries are traveling to China to participate in Saturday's Good Luck Beijing road race and Sunday's individual time trial.

The race follows the same course that will be biked during the 2008 Summer Games in Beijing, which might give some of these riders a leg up and they can check out the course the riding conditions first hand.

Among the particpants are Michael Rogers and Cadel Evans from Australia.  Matt White, of the disbanding Discovery Channel team, will be among the US riders at the event.


Other Olympic bicycling events are also scheduled for the Good Luck games. BMX racing is scheduled for Aug. 20 and 21 at the Laoshan BMX facility and mountain biking is scheduled for Sept. 22 at the Laoshan mountain bike course.

Track cycling rounds out the bicycling activities on Dec. 7-9 at Laoshan Velodrome.
