Next week's LiveStrong Day on Wednesday, May 16, isn't about the bike, it's about cancer.

The Lance Armstrong Foundation says its a day for grassroots advocacy to raise awareness about cancer issues on a local and national level.

In addition to more than 140 events across the US — four in Seattle, for instance — a group of 200 cancer survivorship delegates representing their home states will visit Capitol Hill to meet and lobby congressmen about cancer issues.

The state representatives will meet the day before for training in Washington DC.

Meanwhile, the Texas House approved a constitutional amendment that would set up a $3 billion fund for cancer research.

According to the Dallas Morning News, the state would issue $300 million a year in bonds to make grants to public and private institutions, state universities and medical schools.

It still needs passage in the Texas Senate.
